The time had come to take my first ride on Joe
outside the arena.
The two of us went out into the clear star covered moonlit night.
Warmth of his body and power within electrified the reins that I held in my
hands.
The fresh fallen snow billowed beneath his hooves, sparkled like glitter
magnified through the moonlight as if angels had thrown down millions of tiny
diamonds.
I could feel my heart beating in my throat and my breathing came in short gasps
along with the rhythm of his hooves striking the ground.
But now it was time to turn around and walk back to the barn before the
family began to worry
